The celebrity supporters of Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III have congratulated the country’s next chief executive following his proclamation Wednesday.

Some of them even trooped to Batasang Pambansa in Quezon City to be part of what singer Jim Paredes described as a “very historic” event.

Lily Monteverde, matriarch of Regal Films, was confident that the older brother of television host Kris Aquino is “going to be a very, very good president.”

Boy Abunda, a family friend of the Aquinos, was also present during the proclamation. Abunda recently hogged the headlines after Aquino announced that he was thinking of getting the TV host to head the Department of Tourism (DoT).

“I just came here to congratulate Noy and be part of the celebration and the proclamation…. being a member of the family, a friend, bilang mamamayan ang dahilan kung bakit kami narito,” Abunda said.

Abunda also reiterated his stand to decline the DoT post. “Not now. No doors closed but hindi ngayon.”

Dingdong Dantes and Ogie Alcasid were also ecstatic that their candidate emerged victorious in the last elections.

“[I’m] very, very happy. Kung baga kakaiba ‘yong dinedicate naming oras, pawis at dedikasyon sa kampanya ni Noy. At nakakatuwa na [nanalo siya],” Dantes said.

Alcasid, on the other hand, said: “We are behind you all the way. Congratulations and God bless you.”

It has been rumored that both Dantes and Alcasid might get key positions in the Aquino government. Although both stars said they were honored to be considered, they clarified that there were no formal offers yet from Aquino.

They said though that they would seek his help in their respective advocacies.
