Young actor Kim Chiu has belied reports that she and longtime on-screen partner Gerald Anderson have split up. In an interview with “SNN: Showbiz News Ngayon,” Chiu maintained that she and Anderson were never a couple.

“Hindi naman kami naging kami, at saka paano naman kami maghihiwalay eh magkasama naman kami sa trabaho namin,” Chiu said.

The actress was reacting to tabloid news reports saying that a third party was the reason for their breakup. It also said that Chiu’s jealousy forced Anderson to leave her.

Reports also claimed that the third party was newbie actress Sam Pinto, who also broke her silence on the said issue. “Really, may boyfriend pala ako? I didn’t know. Si Gerald daw? We are going steady daw, talaga? I didn’t know din eh,” Pinto said.

In previous interviews, Pinto was very open in sharing her admiration for Anderson and said she hopes to work with the actor someday.

Chiu stressed that Pinto has nothing to do with her relationship with Anderson and hinted that she knows something about Pinto’s love life.

“Ang masasabi ko lang, wala siyang kinalaman sa aming dalawa (ni Gerald). Si Sam mayroon siyang ano, basta alam ko kung anong ano, basta may alam ako,” Chiu said.

Anderson, who previously admitted that he and Chiu are already in the “mutual understanding” phase, also reacted to the recent breakup issue.

“Paulit-ulit kasi–kami na tapos hiwalay na. So hindi ko na alam. Basta kami ni Kim, masaya kami,” he said.

Anderson also defended Pinto saying that the latter has nothing to do with him. He said he last saw the newbie actress on the last day of taping of ABS-CBN’s weekly series “Your Song Presents: Isla.”

“Alam mo ang huling kita ko kay Sam yong huling taping day namin sa ‘Your Song.’ Wala akong number niya, wala. Kung may nakakita sa akin na kasama ko si Sam sa labas iharap n’yo sa akin,” the actor said.

Currently, Chiu and Anderson are stars of the hit primetime series “Kung Tayo’y Magkakalayo.”
