Boxing icon and congressman-elect Manny Pacquiao gave his friend, Willie Revillame, a pat on the back, assuring the game show host that he will be able to get past the latest controversy in his career.

“Malalampasan din iyan. ‘Wag lang siyang mawalan ng tiwala sa Panginoon. Hindi naman magbibigay ang Panginoon ng problema kung hindi niya ma-solve,” Pacquiao said during an interview over radio dzMM on Saturday.

Pacquiao said Revillame is a very strong person and he was sure that the Wowowee host will be able to stand up after the issue about his “I’ll quit” threat to ABS-CBN management is over.

The remark was prompted by Revillame’s public tiff with showbiz journalist Jobert Sucaldito who earlier questioned why Wowowee invited high school students with a general average of 75 to 79 to be contestants. Revillame cried foul and called for management to fire Sucaldito or Revillame will resign.

In his column for The Philippine Star, Ricky Lo published a “resignation” letter sent by Revillame to ABS-CBN top executives.

The show host asked to be released from his contract as a talent of the network.

The ABS-CBN management, without directly confirming the letter, said the letter could have been given to the newspaper columnist by Revillame himself.

Bong Osorio, the network’s corporate communications head, said the management “believes that issues are best resolved when discussed with the parties involved, privately.”

It said that a meeting between the management and Revillame has been set for next week. -ABS-CBnnews
