Actor Robin Padilla is open to replacing Willie Revillame as permanent host of “Wowowee,” but he’s still hoping Willie would return to the popular noon time show of ABS-CBN.

Padilla gave his reaction after Revillame sent a letter to ABS-CBN executives asking them to release him as talent and host of Wowowee. His letter was published in celebrity journalist Ricky Lo’s column in The Philippine Star on Friday.

Revillame still has one-and-half years left in his contract with ABS-CBN.

In an interview with Ted Failon and Pinky Webb over dzMM on Friday, Revillame said he was open to staying on as regular host of Wowowee as long as the issues between Revillame and ABS-CBN are settled.

“Siguro po kailangan lang magkaroon ng malinaw na usapan dahil marami po akong naiwan,” Padilla said.

In an exclusive interview with, Padilla said he was still not in a position to react to Revillame’s decision to be released as ABS-CBN talent and host of Wowowee.

Padilla also confirmed that he was just asked to host the show for two weeks. “Yon po ang usapan, yon po ang usapan,” he said.

He also told Failon and Webb on Friday that he still has lot of pending film commitments, which might make it difficult for him to become the regular host of Wowowee.

ABS-CBN management has a scheduled meeting with Willie Revillame early next week to discuss the issues surrounding Revillame, according to ABS-CBN Corporate Communications chief Bong Osorio.

“Even prior to the publication of Willie Revillame’s letter to ABS-CBN in the May 21 column of Ricky Lo in The Philippine Star, a meeting has already been scheduled between Willie and ABS-CBN management next week. ABS-CBN chooses not to comment on his letter until after the meeting,” the network said.

“ABS-CBN believes that issues are best resolved when discussed with the parties concerned privately before they are made public,”  it added.

Revillame took a leave of absence from his show after openly calling on the network’s executives to fire entertainment journalist Jobert Sucaldito whom he accused of insulting Wowowee contestants. -ABS-CBNnews
