An official of the Presidential Commission on Good Government (PCGG) has some unsolicited advice for presidential frontrunner Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III.

PCGG Commissioner Ricardo Abcede said Aquino should utilize her sister, TV host-actress Kris Aquino-Yap, to reach out to the masses since she is an effective communicator.

“Your sister, Kris, has the ear of the masses. When people seem not to listen to you, talk to Kris. I mean talk to her in public for all the world to hear, and I assure you, the whole world will listen,” Abcede said.

Yap, dubbed as the “Queen of all Media,” is a longtime fixture on local television and is known for her frankness and spontaneity. Just recently, she expressed willingness to help her brother in any way in his task of steering the Philippines toward progress.

At one point, Yap even hinted that she may give up some of her shows on ABS-CBN.

“Nakatulong po ako sa kapatid ko at balak ko pong tulungan si Noy in every possible way that I can for as long as he wants me to help him,” Yap said.

Kris not needed?

Last week, an online petition on Facebook called on Yap to leave the Philippines.

Called “Kris Aquino’s Despedida” (Spanish word for “farewell party”), the page had a common message — for Yap to fulfill the promise she made during her brother’s campaign, which is to work abroad if Aquino wins in the May 10 polls.

After the Facebook page made its way to newspapers and television screens, Aquino rose to his sister’s defense.

“She is a citizen of the republic, she has not committed any crime, why should she leave the country? You can’t please every one,” he was quoted by a local broadsheet.

Yap, for her part, made it clear that she isn’t going anywhere.

“Ang nagpapalayas sa akin iyong mga talunan. Eh lahat naman ng mga bumoto kay Noy, kino-congratulate ako. Eh di hamak na mas maraming nagko-congratulate sa akin. So, sorry,” she said in a phone interview at ABS-CBN’s “Failon Ngayon.”

Other tips

Using Yap to reach out to the masses is only one of the unsolicited tips that Aquino got from a public official.

Just recently, Press Undersecretary Rogelio Peyuan told Aquino to appoint Cabinet members who are presentable, approachable and with a good sense of judgment.

“Ang mungkahi natin ay mamili ng medyo cute na mga makakasama sa kapaligiran. Nakangiti, medyo maayos ang amoy at hindi pa amoy lupa at malapit na magpaalam,” Peyuan told reporters.

“Dapat maganda ang sense of judgment nito kung saan dapat akayin ang kabuuan ng bansa,” he added.

A “Dear Noynoy” Facebook page has also been created so Filipino Internet users can post suggestions on how Aquino can lead the Philippines to progress.

Tips touched mostly on Cabinet appointments, priority projects and ways to battle the problems of deep-seated corruption in the country. -Source: ABS-CBNnews
