Lauded recently at the New York Festivals (Television and Film Awards) is “Planet Philippines,” a docu-drama on climate change produced by network giant, GMA, and hosted by actor Richard Gutierrez.

Gutierrez and “Planet Philippines’” program manager Ella Evangelista-Martelino, personally accepted the the prestigious Bronze World Medal for the show at a ceremony held at the American Airlines Theater in Los Angeles, California, May 3rd.

According to Gutierrez, the award has inspired him to do more features dedicated to the environment.

To that end, he has announced that he will be doing a quarterly environmental special on GMA 7. He also revealed plans to release “Planet Philippines” on DVD.

“The support that I received for ‘Planet Philippines is quite heartwarming; I’ve received letters, emails from fans commending me for the program. I’m very, very grateful for that support and I am aiming to do more of the same (environmental shows) in the future,” said he in a TV interview.
